John 14:26 – But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
What a marvelous reality for the follower of Jesus! We are given the Holy Spirit to help us navigate a world system where we are now foreigners and strangers because of receiving Jesus and waiting for His coming. We are in this world, but not of this world as God’s kingdom is not of this world.
Holy Spirit helps us through teaching us the truth of God’s kingdom through reminding us of Jesus’ words that were not only spoken but lived out by Jesus in His fellowship with the Spirit.
In this present evil age, apart from the Spirit’s guidance, we are taught and reminded to trust in our own guidance and the world’s resources for our provision, comfort, safety, and forgiveness apart from trust in our Maker. Holy Spirit helps us recognize when we become to influenced by the messages we are hearing around us, often couched in ways of practical wisdom, but yet depends on this world’s wisdom, not God’s.
One sign that we are moving in that direction of being influenced by the world’s teaching and the not the Spirit’s is a overall lack of deep peace within us that is not of this world. The world gives instruction that eventually leads to worry while the Spirit’s teaching leads us to the peace of Jesus because when we are truly in fellowship with the Spirit, we are abiding in Jesus.
